Botox Injection

BOTOX

Botox is a natural protein that weakens the muscles and by doing so it improves the appearance of wrinkles caused by muscle contraction. Botox injection is one of the most requested procedures in facial rejuvenation.

Why  Botox is so popular?

  1. It is a fast (lunch break) office-based procedure.

  2. It is a non surgical treatment.

  3. When used appropriately, it is an overwhelmingly safe method  to enhance the appearance of facial wrinkles and lines.

  4. There is no recovery period or down time.

  5. The result is a natural youthful and fresher look.

Where can Botox be used?

We use Botox to improve and smooth out the wrinkles on the forehead (forehead lines), around the eyes (smile lines or crow’s feet), on the lips (lipstick or smoker’s lines), around the corners of the mouth (Marionette lines), and neck (necklace lines).

Botox can also be used for non surgical brow lift, and jaw line improvement as well.

Botox  is also an effective non surgical treatment to improve Hyperhidrosis. Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating that is not related to exposure to heat or exercise.

Botox can also be used for temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain syndrome that has not

responded to other simpler treatment modalities.

How long does the Botox effect last?

The clinical effects of Cosmetic Botox begin to appear in about three days, reaches its peak in two weeks, and gradually declines after three to four months. Patients, who have received regular injections in the same area, may enjoy longer lasting results up to six months. The effects of Botox in hyperhydrosis treatment usually last for six months.

Do we have different kinds of Botox?

Botox is a formulation of Botulinum toxin type A

produced by the American company “Allergan”. It has been studied most extensively and has the FDA and Health Canada approval for treatment of all upper face wrinkles.

Another commonly used product is

Xeomin. Xeomin is a newer version of botulinum toxin type A produced by German-Swiss company “Merz”. Similar to Botox, Xeomin is an FDA and Health Canada approved product for treating all upper face wrinkles.

Dermal Fillers

As we age, our faces lose volume due to the loss and displacement of facial fat, as well as a reduction in hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is naturally present in the human body. Hyaluronic acid in our skin holds water and helps to keep it hydrated and plump.

Some dermal Fillers like Juvederm and Belotero are Made of a hyaluronic acid gel. Hyaluronic acid fillers help to diminish facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face through the replacement of lost tissue and the filling and effacement of coarse wrinkles.

Why dermal fillers injections are so common?

  1. It is a quick, non surgical treatment.

  2. It is a safe procedure and have been used for over a decade.

  3. There is usually a short down time and sometimes no downtime.

  4. Results are often noticeable immediately after the procedure.

  5. Unwanted results are usually reversible.

  6. The results last for about 12 to 18 months or longer.

What can be achieved  with dermal fillers?

  1. Frown lines improvement

  2. Softening of the horizontal forehead lines

  3. Correction of the wrinkles around  the mouth and the lips

  4. Plumping up thinning lips

  5. Decreasing the shadows and  wrinkles under the eyes

  6. Softening static wrinkles like smile lines

How soon will I see any result?

Results are seen instantly after the treatment, although this gradually improves over the course of the following 4-6 weeks.

How long does the result of dermal fillers last?

It depends on many factors such as the treatment location, the hyaluronic acid content of the filler and the individual differences between different patients to name a few.  That said, the effects may last between 9 to 24 months. Hyaluronic acid fillers will naturally absorbed by the body, and the effects will slowly fade away.

Does it hurt?

Most hyaluronic acid fillers are specially formulated with lidocaine (local anesthetic) which makes the treatment more comfortable. We also use local anesthetics, numbing cream and ice for your increased comfort.
